Evermore by Alyson Noel

Released: February 3, 2009
Publisher: St. Martins Griffin
Pages: 301
Rating: 4/5

Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras, hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch.   Going out of her way to shield herself from human contact to suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste…

Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition.  He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets.  Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking—and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head.  She doesn’t know who he really is—or what he is.  Damen equal parts light and darkness, and he belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies.

I loved Evermore. I loved the concept of this story; it was different and refreshing. I read Evermore in 2009 but I just started my blog so I'am trying to put up as much reviews as I can. Even though the concept was different, the story was just like any other typical story: Boy moves to school, girl falls in love, the boy is not who she thinks he is and blah blah blah, but other then that everything seemed okay. The protagonist, Ever thinks she is a freak because of an accident that caused her parents and sister's death which she thinks she is responsible for. With that said she has also turned into a physic  because she can now see people's aura's, read minds and know a person's entire life by a single touch. I thought that this concept was unique but Ever didn't appreciate it and kind of got whiny at times. Ever keeps a low profile at school and has two very weird friends. Haven, her so called best friend was a bit disturbing, she was pretty cool at times and clueless at others. But now enters Damen, the boy who every girl is after except Ever.

Damen shows an interest in Ever and pretty soon they fall in love, but before we get the happy ending there are some events that take place which leave Ever with more questions than answers and they got me confused too. Noel's writing was pretty fine but could have been better. I wish the problem in the plot was more serious and different than it actually was. Overall the story was nice but there are so many better ones out there and it kind of didn't live up to my expectations, my sister said that the sequel was better but I haven't picked it up yet but now that I remember I'll have to read it soon because I don't leave a series hanging! ;)
