If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Released: April 9th 2009
Publisher: Dutton Juvenile
Pages: 234
Rating: 5/5

In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...
A sophisticated, layered, and heartachingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make—and the ultimate choice Mia commands.

Oh my god this week is the best book week; I've been reading so many good books in the past couple of weeks. If I Stay was really good. Thats the first thing I'am going to say. I think Mia, the main character would have been an interesting person to know if  this book was a bit less eventful.  Seventeen year old Mia has the most perfect life. An awesome family with an ex- rocker Dad, a travel agent Mom, the most adorable brother and to top it over she has a perfect boyfriend. One other thing I personally enjoyed about Mia was that she played the cello out of all the obvious instruments Gayle Forman chose the cello to outlook the main character and it matched Mia's personality perfectly.

When this book really starts to get eventful is when Mia and her family decide to go on a road trip to visit her grandparents. On minute she is so happy and content with her family and the next their car is broken to pieces, her parents bodies are torn to pieces, she can't find her brother but she finds herself and shes standing beside her own crippled and contorted body. She has an out of body experience and finds herself alive but in a dangerous coma. When Mia finds out that she is the only surviving family member in the car accident, she is left a terribly tough decision. Does she stay and go back to life without her family or does she take the easy way out?

This book is a fast and beautifully paced novel. I actually ended up crying. Gayle Forman takes you on a wild roller coaster ride which consists of adventure, drama, love and loss. It is one of the most amazing books I have ever read. I highly recommend that you guys pick it up soon. I can't wait for the sequel which I believe is coming out soon.
