Born At Midnight by C.C Hunter (Shadow Falls #1)

Released: March 29th, 2011
Publisher: St. Martins Griffin
Pages: 416
Rating: 5/5

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever.  Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.”  Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either.  Or does she?  They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason.  As if life wasn't complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas.  Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past.  Both Derek and Lucas couldn't be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.
Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

I absolutely loved this book! I was was completely captivated by the plot and found myself attracted to the book while I wasn't reading it. The characters in the story were fabulous, they were unique and completely realistic. The romance in this book was normal and not over the edge, it felt real and quite nice and yes, there is a love triangle, but its not completely developed. The book kept me guessing as to who Kylie our protagonist will choose; either Lucas or Derek. I definitely know which boy i'am choosing, but whichever side she chooses doesn't really matter because they both are amazing. I liked how C.C Hunter kept Lucas sort of in the dark, he seemed more mysterious and more dashing. While Kylie and Derek are a little heart warming, I was completely intrigued by Lucas.

The mystery in this novel is done well and it was enjoyable even though theres a quick resolution after the climax.
Kylie was also a great character she was honest and strong. She stood up straight throughout the mystery of the camp and did not give up.
I loved the story, the characters and everything else about this book, now I really want to know what happensnext. I highly recommend this and hope you guys check it out!

  4. I have been debating whether I want to read this book, but you make it sound incredibly worthwhile! I love it when a book refuses to let you focus on anything else! :)
